Ready for Spring...:)

Journal Entry: Fri Mar 7, 2014, 9:30 AM
Can't wait for the pool ice to melt so our annual duck onslaught can begin.
We're supposed to get near 70 degrees this weekend so that should help.
Right now it's snowing though. I'm always amazed at Colorado's schizophrenic weather patterns and I love it.

The Skeptical Turtle should be in metal next week.
Once I get it in my studio I can color it and ship it off to Kauai.
I'll post pictures of the finished piece.

I'm sculpting a base for the Little Dragon and Knight piece.
I felt it needed something more than just those two figures on a wooden base.
Progress shots to follow soon.

I'm still in the process of sculpting an octopus that will fit on the top of a
nice keepsake box. I'm really happy with how it's looking.
Pix of that to follow soon as well.

I've also been working on pieces for a company here in town. Their name is Secret Compass and they
deal in action figures, movie props, all sorts of stuff.  Check out their site at www.secretcompassonline.com
Right now I'm finishing up on a couple of Star Trek Phaser Rifles.
I'll try to post shots of those as well.
I've worked on a Predator, Spiderman, World of Warcraft figures, Aliens2 Pulse Rifle, and the list goes on.
The nice thing is I can take everything home to my studio to work on.

A warning to fellow artists out there.  There is a guy named Matthew Christopher Nelson who has been taking peoples images, even shots of sculptures and manipulating them in Photoshop and then calling them his own. He had an account here on DA but it's been shut down. His Facebook page has been shut down as well. He is a slime and a ripoff artist. He had a Kickstarter project completely funded and ready to go that would publish an 'original' art book. Luckily they got enough complaints so it was halted. I saw an image of a sculpt by Aris Kolokontes that he used a fresco filter on among other really 'artistic' effects and then he claimed it as his own. Do a google search of his name and see if he has any other accounts and look for your work on those sites. He's running scared right now.

Well, I'd better get my butt in to the studio and get some work done.
Thanks to all of you for the great messages, new watches, faves, Llama badges, cake badges for my birthday, and for all your support!
Have a great weekend!
Take care,
Randy

I read this as 'Annual Duck Slaughter.' Gave this a rather different tone.

Aside from that, all sounds good.

Same here, although I was having a chat with my sister on the weekend, I think after I fully qualify, I'm going to be getting very busy and having life slow up at the same time (I know that doesn't make sense at face value, but it does if you know what it involves).

It involves working with scientific bases, even places as far out as the arctic and antarctic. Would be very closed off, but good experience, don't know why more trades people aren't interested in these jobs.

Some of them (pole based) would be six months minimum, but I don't think I'd struggle with that.

Just don't let any strange dogs from other camps in to your room. Especially huskies.;)

I could use one of those phaser rifles. They'll be in fine working condition, right? A girl's gotta protect herself from all sorts of slimey bastards...

oh yes, they can stun, kill or possibly lobotomize your victim.
I'll put your name on one. :)
