So here's the fish all colored up.
I'm taking all sorts of shots of it today and tonight to get the best possible angle, color, etc.
This photo is just a quick one to see how the colors look.
I'll be posting the shot I send to Spectrum in addition to some turnaround shots.
I think I'm even going to do a Youtube video of the turnaround and post that.
My schedule has been so crazy busy that I didn't have time to mould or cast it, so I colored the oil based clay. I was nervous at first but just went for it. I laid down a white enamel and then all sorts of layers of acrylic washes etc to get this final result. I'll still be able to mould it and not lose any of the details for reproduction so that's nice.
The official name that it will have in Spectrum 19 will be Vishy Vishy instead of Fishy Fishy. In Deuce Bigalow, the gigalo who had the fish tank kept tapping on the tank and saying..."Hi Vishy Vishy" and that has always stuck with me. I'm simple what can I say?
Hope you all like it!

This fish turned out really nice! I like the colors you picked for him and the washes look really good on the fins in the tips (actually looks airbrushed not washes). Also a lot of tiny details I didn’t notice in the plain clay version are now really more obvious :D like the red pimples and the wrinkles and veins in his eyes! Great work Randy! Are you going to prop this on a plaque or put it on a rod for final display?...in fact how is this floating in midair!? :U

Thank you so much Crystal!
I really had a blast coloring this piece.
I did indeed airbrush the black on it.
That's always my favorite part of the process because the black is like the icing on the cake.
Actually I photoshopped the rod that sticks in it's belly out of the picture.
This is the clay original that I colored but on the resin casts I'll be putting some small rings through the dorsal fin and then hang them with fishing line.
Have a great weekend!
All my best,
Take care

Hee hee...yeah, I don't read the artist comments too often.
Thanks for liking the painting. Definitely nerve racking painting clay. I've never done it before so it was a bit scary.
