This is the first in a series of pieces I'll be doing...I'm calling it Sticks and Stones simply because that's what the original will be made of. I got the idea from making my wifes b-day present "Skellytree"
I take driftwood or stones or both and try to morph them in to whatever they should be morphed in to. Sometimes the pieces already have an image in them that needs to be enhanced. This particular piece I found while hiking. I try to make sure something isn't already living in it, i.e. spiders, bugs of any kind, or snakes, so I don't feel as guilty, picking it up and using it. If possible, when I'm done with it, I also try to return it to it's original location cuz it would have decayed and been part of where it was eventually. Sounds cheesy, but I try to be as low impact as possible.
This is a resin cast but I just finished two bronze castings of it and they will be sent to a client who is building a house down south. They are going to use them as door handles. One will face up and the other down so it will be kind of a cool effect. If I get shots from them once they are installed, I'll add those too.
This piece measures 15 inches long, 6 inches wide, and 5 inches high. Hope you like it...
