So finally the rooster is pretty much done...
I finished it this last weekend and am really happy with how it all came together.
I'm actually glad this piece got stretched out as long as it did because as I was working on other commissions in my studio I'd look up now and then to see something that bugged me and needed changing or improving...
I had a lot of great reference photos to work from so that really helped as well.
I'm going to do a multi-color version in addition to the plain red and white rooster so that should be fun.
The tail looks like it would be complex to mold, but actually it comes up and off and then the 13 long feathers will be cut close to the main clump and molded separately as well.
It should piece back together in the resin cast fairly easily and then for the bronze cast the wax should piece together fairly easily as well.
The piece stands approx. 27 inches tall, 26 inches from beak to tail, and 11 inches wide.
Whew! it's good to have this one finished...
Hope you all enjoy him!
Ps. be nice Tim
