So here's this years birthday gift for my beautiful wife.
I'm a little over 2 weeks late but she understood.
I guess the piece turned out to look like a mix of Scooby-doo, a bat, a rat, a bird and whatever else you all might see...hee hee.
The wings are attached with tiny hinges and it hangs by two eyelets attached to the tops of the wings. The hook in the belly holds a string tied to 3 small bronze pieces. When you pull on the string it flaps the wings and moves the body up and down.
I've seen this concept at craft fairs and then when I saw it on one of the Harry Potter movies I felt I had to try my hand at it. The one on Harry Potter was a bat skeleton that I thought was super cool. My wife said this is her favorite birthday gift yet. Now I gotta top this one next year.
Hope you all like it!
Ps. I'll be getting better shots soon, in addition I'll be posting a quick little Youtube video of it in action.

Thanks so much Jamie! So glad you like it.
I really had a blast with this piece. It took a lot of sanding to get the wings to look decent.
The wing span is around 32 inches and it's around 15 inches long.
Thanks for the faves on it too!
Hope all is great with you my friend!
Take care
