"Oh my goodness is that a giant snail?"
"Yes."
"Am I dead?"
O_O "What?"
He and I both love your work! <3 You get the dimensions so perfectly ^0^ If you respond to this comment I will die. Because you're sculptures are incredible.
And tell your brother thanks as well!
Really appreciate the faves and the watch...
All my best to you,
Take care
Hey, as an aspiring artist should I post my stuff on DA even though people could easily repost my work on their cruddy tumblr account? It has happend to me before...I don't feel exactly safe just posting my drawings online anymore. :c Also I don't think paying for copy right is an option for me. -_-
And if you don't mind me asking, why do you have a DA account? Is it because it's more affordable than a website? What's the point because you seem like you're a successful artist already. Just wondering c: It's for your fans isn't it?
Sorry about bombarding you with questions but you're on of the only mega DA artists that might actually respond to my dumb questions. But I do have many concerns and I would very much appreciate it if you'd help me out a bit. Thanks.
What's nice about those is you can batch together as many works as possible on one copyright form to keep your costs down.
You can get the forms on line...just google 'visual arts copyright form'
If you put a watermark on your work that's an option as well.
If you put a © before your name on each piece you do, legally you are protected. To get that on my computer which is a Mac I press 'option' and 'g' at the same time.
Sadly, if the copier is from China or another country there's not a lot you can do.
It's part of the business sometimes and that's a bummer.
The nice thing about using a VA form is that if you catch the person copying your work, you can take them to court and when you win your case, your legal fees are paid for as part of the settlement.
Without the form you can still win with a simple © before your name but you have to pay your legal fees as well.
I have a friend out in New Jersey who does pewter pins and is in the middle of winning his 20th lawsuit and he has VA forms on all his works.
I had someone here on DA using an image from my gallery on a Photobucket site and he was offering it on mugs, hats, shirts etc.
I joined Facebook to track him down and threatened to come after him with my Copyright lawyer. (didn't have one but it scared him anyway)
Just threatening someone by using the right verbage and legal prowess often is all you need.
Another possibility which is fairly inexpensive is to take pictures or scans of your work...sign and date them...and then send them to yourself via certified mail. You don't open this letter so you have proof if you need to take someone to court.
For me having a Deviant site is just for fun.
I have made some small sales, but that's not my reason for being here....I've made some great friends.
In the end, if someone wants to copy your work badly enough, they are going to find a way.
You just have to hope you can catch them and track them down some how.
Hope this helps,
All my best,
Take care
